Thread: The latch to the glove box on my 2001 VW Jetta broke off (in the locked...

...position). How do I fix it? The glove box to my 2001 VW Jetta was locked shut. A kid in my car, not realizing it was locked, pulled too hard on the handle/latch and the darn thing broke right off!

So now there is a nice rectangular hole in the glove box, where the handle/latch should be. Meanwhile, the key still turns the lock mechanism in the broken off handle/latch.

I thought by holding the handle/latch in place and turning the lock mechanism at the same time, it might unlock the door -- but no luck.

Any suggestions on how to get the door unlocked without destroying it? Many thanks!

try flashlight and a wire, you must have something to pull there to open the box, after go to junk yard and get another one for about 5 or 7 dollars
