    Because there is no such number as infinity.

    But you could say the limit as n tends to infinity of 1^n is equal to 1. Infinity is more of a set of instructions than a number.

    Why is 1 raised to infinity an indeterminate form? Shouldn't it just be equal to 1?

    is any real number raised to infinity also an indeterminate form?
