nissan maxima wont start replaced battery?

I have a 95 nissan maxima i have had SO many problems with it . The battery went out so i replaced that the allternator is working right. but i dont know what else to do and i dont have a lot money to get a mechanic to look at it . Its having a problem starting the lights and all turn on and when i can get it to start i have to push the gas pedal when it turns over. PLEASE HELP
