Because my teacher said weird things can happen when you find certain limits involving infinity. (e.g. something to the power of infinity is not necessarily infinity). How do you know when you can say a limit is 0 or infinity by just looking at it (e.g. e^-5x) and when you have to do something (e.g. -t/e^t as t approaches infinity)?
