I have a 2002 Hyundai XG350 L with a check engine light on with no code. ?

The local Hyundai dealership tells me they will have to take the car completely apart in order to determine what is wrong, costing more than the car is worth. At times the car runs ruff however it runs well. I asked the dealership mechanic if this has happened with other XG 350L and was told no. I need to know if anyone has encountered this problem and what did they do about it. Thanks
