Windows vista DVD read problem?

Hello, I am trying to get my software on a dvd to autoplay, or at least show the files.. but when i do.. it acts as if it is a blank disk and needs to be burned. I knwo vista has a built in burning feature, but this should not happen with an already burnt cd/dvd. Is it a problem with the asus laptop? is there any fix for this? thank you very much.
