Thread: Why wont my laptop let me burn a dvd?

I have and Acer Aspire 5332 and have created a dvd for my homework. when i tried to burn it onto a disk it let me put a menu screen and everything and when i pressed burn it said something like... the disk in your dvd burner is not recordable. please insert recordable or rewritable dvd.
i was using KODAK 52Xcd-R 700mb 80min compact disk recordable.

Why did this happen? is it anything to do with the disk and if so what disks do you suggest getting to burn my homework onto?

(please don't say use a memory stick as i have tried but i want a disk as a source of back up)

Your laptop may NOT be equipped with a DVD-R but rather, a cd-dvd player; therefore, you may not be able to burn dvd's if you do not have the proper hardware.


ETA: After research, it seems like the DVD drive on that laptop gives problems. Try re-installing the DVD drive.

You tried to burn a DVD onto a CD. You need to have a recordable DVD in the burner, not a CD.
