    Why kinds of data can you save on a DVD-R?

    Can I save Microsoft Word and Excel files as well as pictures, etc? Forgive me, but I don't have a clue how this works, so please be as detailed as possible in your answer. Thanks!

    However, you can't burn music on it?

    A cd or dvd is just like a flash drive and you can burn any type of data as long as the cd has enough space in it.
    cd= 700mb
    dvd-r and +r =4.7gb
    dvd+Rdl= 8.5gb
    bluray=25 or 50gb depending on what type you get
    Hope this helps!!

    you can save what ever type of file you want onto a DVD-R the only limitation you will have is the amount of memory you can use but whatever your using to put the files on the DVD will surely tell you if you go over that limit.
