What is wrong with my DVD drive on my laptop?

It will let me listen to sound and it will show the video but it has this multi-color playback as if the disc is scratched but i know for a fact that the disk isnt becuase it plays on dvd players. The model is an m-1625 made by Gateway. Does this mean I have to take it back??
