Is watching a horror film at home on DVD better than watching it in theatres?

Obviously the quality of the movie would be better in a theatre because of the bigger screen and sound system.

But when you got a few people in one dark room at night in your house is probably more fun and scary than watching it in a packed movie theatre.

    What's your take?

Well ideally, you want to watch it in the movie theater by yourself. I actually did that once, and it freaked me out. The movie was "28 Days Later" and the movie was out for a month already, so all my friends saw it already and I had to go at it alone. I'm sure that if I watched the movie with a theater filled with people, I wouldn't have been scared at all. But the fact that I was by myself, I was definitely scared. I also watched it on DVD at my home alone and got the same feeling, but not as intense as watching it in the movies by myself.

It is more scary to watch a horror film alone at home... in the dark.

Watch it at home with some people at night. Then scare the hell out of the other people. It's fun.

Oh definitely, watching it in theatres is awesome and all, but you never get the real scare if you are not in your house with less people or nobody at all inside with you especially at night and when the lights are turned off :0

I prefer at home. I tend to scream if I get surprised and scared which is sort of embarrassing at the theater.

i know the cinema affects are better than home, but i still prefer the movies because its darker then home and the audience's screams make it more exciting,
