    is there a way to get rid of scratches on a DVD disk?

    or help stop the DVD disk from skipping when it's playing in the DVD Player?

    Yes, rub the disk with toothpaste and let it sit for about 15 minutes until it has dried. Run the disk under warm water while rubbing it with your fingers to remove the toothpaste. Towel dry

    Your disk will be minty fresh and ready to play

    Try the ol' toothpaste trick that works on CDs. You put a bit of toothpaste on the disc, and then buff out the scratches.
