    if my drive is: Optical Drive-DVD R/RW Drive should i be able to burn dvd's?

    i thought so but it just wont recognise dvd discs and the drive is crx850e but it says on the tray it is dvd r/rw and when i asked this question before everyone said this drive would not burn dvd's only play them but i dont understand why when it says on it dvd r/rw. can anyone tell me how to go about it please?

    also can anyone tell me as it is made by sony will it only work with sony dvd discs?

    Yes. The DVD means it plays DVD's, the R means it reads, and the RW means it can write and re-write.
