How do you get a DVD to show up on your DVD drive?

I'm trying to transfer a DVD onto my computer so i can convert the video to put it on my iPod. When I put the DVD in my computer, it wont show up. It's as if there's no DVD in my computer. Is there any way to fix this?

you need a dvd decoder
i suggest win dvd
i think thats the name

and check to make sure it acually reads dvds

ok 1 it needs to be a dvd drive, 2 if it isnt well get one, if it is you will need to get some software like dvd43 and it will recognize when you put dvds in, if its a blank dvd it will have to be a dvd rewritable drive

umm... make sure that your drive is DVD copatible, if it is, then it could be screwed up.

You May Need 3rd Party Dvd Decoder Software Installed So The Player Can See The Disk.if Other Dvd's Work And That One Doesnt,it Might Be The Dvd Disk Itself That Is Not A Compatable Form Disk For Your Player.
