its called ripping, use this ripper, it lets you have five rips free.

Search for "DVD Decrypter" or use nero to back the movie onto your hard disc...

laptops are crap anyway so just why do you want to slow it down even more by loading it up with crap you could store on disc's
and view whenever you want just by putting a disc in.
