Questions about DVD and CD disks?

Just curious, what does the DVD + R mean and what does the DVD - R mean? Is it the ams thing with the CD's?

Can I burn a iso file into a CD? or does it have to be a DVD?

Finally, Are there DVDs that are smaller? I am using a 4gb DVD to burn a 1g or less movie or software and that seems like a waste

    thanks

Nor sure about the R+ R- thing
but you can burn to a CD, but you wont be able to watch it on a dvd player. You can acess it from another computer if its on a cd.
and probably not, but you can check your local stores. Usualy dvd's have to be 4Gigs+ because they hold video and audio

The +R and -R doesn't really mean anything. It's just a naming convention mainly because these types are manufactured by different companies. -R is manufactured by DVD Forum which is recognized as the official format of DVD disks. Basically thy're both the same when it comes to performance.

Yes you can burn iso file into a CD provided that the iso file can fit on a CD. You also need to use a burning software for you to make that iso file bootable. Now if you just want to access/extract files from the iso file, you can use winrar to extract them and then install them without burning it into a disk.

Well yes, there is a much smaller type of DVD which is 8 cm in diameter. It can hold up to 1.46 Gb but it is literally smaller than the 12 cm DVD. We call it the MiniDVD and you also need a player that accepts these types but you don't need to worry about that because most player can read both DVD and MiniDVD.
