I bought a new PSU to replace a dead one in my PC. However I failed to realise that the only two SATA conecters are on one wire. Literally 3-4 inches apart. My Hard Drive and Dvd/cd Drive are atleast 12 inches apart. My question is, until i get a molex to sata adapter, is it ok to leave the Dvd drive connected to the mobo without being connected to the PSU?

yes it would be safe and you can get a jumper to extend it so both will plug in
