My DVD drive's functionality keeps fluctuating ever since I installed a pirated

version of Win 7 OS.? I now intend to buy a genuine OS but now in doubt if my DVD drive will fail to run half way while installing this. Any alternate solutions? Please help...

I'd scan the PC after removing the pirated version, then again when installing the genuine one. Then maybe try a system restore to a date prior to the installation of the pirated Win 7. It might reset the DVD driver. Worth a try.

Your drive won't fail due to a dodgy copy of Windows.
Optical drives are mechanical devices, and all mechanical devices at some point will fail.
As for legalising your copy of Windows, if you buy the same version as what you have installed (if you installed Home Premium and bought a legal copy later), you can just change the product key on your current installation, and reactivate and you should be good to go.

    Hope this helps.
