My computer shows my DVD-RW drive as a CD-ROM drive. How can I fix?

Since i upgraded from WinXP SP2 to SP3, my PC has shown my ATAPI DH20A3P DVD-RW as a CD-ROM drive. Although I can still watch DVDs, n write music with iTunes, it seems iTunes is the only software that knows the true nature of my drive. I can't write DVDs or CDs, n I need to backup my software before I leave the country (n my PC). HELP!!!!
