make dvd on nero help???

i have the 'nero' program where you can make/burn dvd ect.
i need some help...
*i want to make my mum a dvd fro her b-day

can someone tell me step by step instructions on how to convert a movie file (plays on quicktime) onto a dvd disc.

i know you can do it just not sure how.
