I bought my laptop last year. It worked fine for playing DVD/CD's until just a few months ago.. I dunno why? I'll put in a DVD or CD and it'll say "Please insert CD into drive" or something like that. Anyone know why?

take it to the store they should fix it
Simply put, it sounds like it wore out.
Here's one thing to try though: right before you close the tray give the CD a spin. Believe it or not, my old laptop would work when I did that.
you dvd drive is malfunctioning , most of the dvd / cd roms & writers are like that under heavy or medium usage you can use those only for about a year or two . if you still have the warrenty you should take it to where you brought it from they will replace the drive with a new one . otherwise they will ask for money to replace it .
