I have a dell inspirion 2200. My warranty just expired and I don't want to pay dell for an hour long phone call.
A computer guy put a new motherboard in my computer a few weeks ago. Ever since then my dvd player hasn't been working. It will try to read dvd's but it thinks they are blank cds. I opened the program in hopes that this would help, but it said that there was nothing in the drive to play. Is there anything I can do by myself to fix this? Did dell send me a new motherboard without a dvd card? I have tried several dvds, all of which work on my tv. When the computer guy was here he unplugged my wireless card, which I could easily fix, I was hoping it would be the same with the dvd player.

That happened to me and I did a system restore. I don't know where it is exactly, but you can just search your computer for system restore. Follow the steps and it will ask you for a date to restore the system to. Choose a date when the drive was working. I remember it takes a while to restore so be patient, like maybe a half hour to an hour.
