If you have sucesfuly used a DVD-rw cd this will be an easy question?

Ok i have not ever used a dvd rw be for and i just wanted to be sure.

Is there anything special i need to do when i go to put something new on the dvd. do i need to del first or can i just burn a new movie onto it like it was a blank cd?
