from the cable. Can someone help me? It is a Magnavox DVD/VCR recorder and it plays DVD/VCR just fine so I am sure it is the way I have connected it to the satellite box. What is wrong?

If you are using a hdmi to connect, it will not record off the cable.You must use regular cable hookup.
