I have dvd/vcr combo, how do i hook it up to my tv?

I only have the yellow and white cables, I have tried everything and still nothing. The tv is a sharp model and the dvd/vcr combo is emmerson

Did you put it on the right channel for both of them? That could be problem.

Or maybe you put the colors in the wrong places?
