iTunes likes MPEG-4, H.264, MOV, DV and M4V formats, if you gonna to rip DVD to iTunes video, they are what you should look to. If you just need to rip audio from DVD, rip DVD and save audio as MP3, AAV, or FLAC are good choices.

To deal with DVD, you need a program to decrypt DVD to remove all the limitation so that can get the video out of DVD. There are freeware and shareware decrypters available. You can use iOrgsoft DVD to iTunes converter or Handbrake (freeware) to perform that task. If you pursue a program that is easy to use, with high audio-visual quality output, of course, better with free customer service, then DVD to iTunes converter for Mac is your ideal choice. The program has been upgraded several times so far, it features fast conversion, high quality, simple yet powerful video editing capacity ( crop, trim, rotate, add effect and merge files into one) , snapshot taking and advanced video/audio setting(resolution, frame rate, bitrate, etc.) . In a word, Mac DVD to iTunes converter can easily convert DVD to mpeg-4, h.264, mov, mp3 that welcomed by iTunes.
