How to Remove write protection on a DVD RW?

I tried to Format my DVD RW, and it popped up a screen that says "The Disc is write protected." Any (Free) ideas on how to get rid of that? If you don't know, or a just gonna say there is no way, please don't answer. Thanks a bunch!

I see no read only.... (FYI: I am using Vista. Don't know if that makes a difference.)
