how to keep the audio and video in synch when burning a dvd?

i downloaded an avi movie and converted it to NTFS format using convertXtodvd but when i burn it to a dvd to play on my big screen there is a 7 second video delay after the audio. I checked the video file and its sychronized so its happening when i burn it,i am using Nero vision. any help on how to keep it synchronized when i burn it is greatly appreciated.
