Burning the DVD shouldn't take long at all on any semi modern burner. The problem is most likely that the files you want to burn to the DVD are not in DVD format. It can take several hours to convert them to DVD format before you can burn the DVD.

I think maybe you can try another better burning software to help you , now i am using ithe RZ DVD Creator ,works well ,it is fast ,safe and convenient , you can try it by yourself, it can directly convert any movies to standard video DVD and burn to any DVD disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc, the burned video DVD can be played well on home DVD player, you can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, easy to use, good quality, you may have a try !
