I'd like my dvd maker back to where it was a week ago. I used the wrong dvd and now my dvd maker is not working. Is there a way to reset it, without having to reset the whole laptop? Many thanks.

Use System Restore. You will find it in Help & Support.
It will put your computer back to the state it was on the date you select.
