How can I get Windows 7 to play my burned DVD's?

I have a bunch of DVD's that were burned using a dvd recorder. They play in any DVD player...except for my Windows 7 computer. When I put the disc in the drive, it doesn't auto play. And when I click on the drive, a message pops up saying "Windows can't format this type of disc."

I have tried to find an answer, but no luck so far. HELP!
