Thread: how can i get my missing cd/dvd drive back?

i have a compaq presario c500 laptop and it is sayin my driver is corupted or missing, how can i get it back? i can play cds, dvds or games anymore as it will not read dics can anyone please help?? my driver is : cd/dvdw ts-l632d ata device

Run chkdsk, it recovers currupt and missing files

um i think you can prolly order one from compaq.com
then can you go to myspace or facebook and add me cutie?

Best thing to do is to search for updatede drivers to start with, clearly the drive causes problems:

Goto your Control Panel , under system devices, delete the CD/DVD drive, restart , with a bit of luck, it will reload the device again.
Do you have Roxio installed ?
