How can I close my laptop without stopping the dvd?

Ok, I have an Acer Aspire 4520,running windows Vista,I have already figured out how to adjust power settings for different power schemes, but I cant figure out how to keep the optical drive running when I close the laptop lid.(I am trying to display a dvd on my minivan's lcd,so I would like to be able to close the lid on trips, simply shutting the off the laptop's display will not suffice) thanks in advance
I may have not made it clear that I can close the laptop lid and the computer remains on,but the dvd stops.
