Help! Bought a region 2 dvd and have a region free player,but cant play...

...because of PAL enocding on dvd.? I am using a DVD Region X for my ps2 as a multi region dvd player. Only when i pick the region i want, it wont play. Can it be because of my tv being NTSC and the dvd being PAL?

What can i do to make the dvd play on my ps2?
