DVD player playing vcds black and white??

i have a sony dvd player and an akai tv. my dvd player used to play all the vcds just perfect bt after some days suddenly it started playing d vcds black and white. it plays the dvds correctly just the vcds are playing black and white.
Any support is appreciated !
