DVD menus and creating menues to cycle through if possible?

ok so here is the deal, i have lost the remote to my dvd player (and yes i know i can get a universal remote that would work, but due to money issues at the moment that's not an Option.) and i burn disks to DVD to watch in bed...without the Remote tho i am unable to change through the menu in the dvd...i.e. from "play movie" to "scene selection". that's not the problem at all as i never use scene selection anyways. the problem is that i have some movies with two parts (generally avi files) and i was wondering if there is a way to make the menu selection cycle through the menu options? if not then can i merge the two parts together to make one peice? any advice would be fantastic and thanks in advance.
