DVD drive not recognizing os disc?
Hi,
I just finished building my brothers new computer, and it turns on with all fans running fine. In bios it recognizes the RAM, CPU etc so thats all good. It recognizes the HDD and the DVD drive and I am able to configure the boot device priority. I choose the DVD drive as first boot, then HDD and second.
I think his DVD drive is some old cheap one, because we removed it from his old PC. In bios it says it's called "CD/DVD : SS-LITE-ON COMBO LTC-481"
So I put my Windows 7 Ultimate disc in, it goes past the mobo screen and then just a black screen for a while, with the dvd drive light flashing, and then ends up in the reboot or select proper boot device press any key screen. I tried it with my Windows Vista dvd too and still no luck..
I could test my dvd drive in his but it would be a pain to get it out when I have another couple of exams on monday that I have to study for. So I thought I would ask online. Thanks.
