Thread: dvd burner?

hello,
i have a compaq presario c300 laptop.the thing is i can burn files such as mp3,avi,mpeg,etc into a cd-r,cd-rw but i cannot burn a dvd!! i've converted the avi file using convertxtodvd and when i inserted a dvd-r as requested to burn,nothing happened! all i could hear was my cd drive buzzing,humming making squeaky noises..what's wrong? can't my laptop burn dvds?? i used a samsung pleomax dvd-r 16x disc..

do i have to buy a dvd burner??

please advice..
on my cd drive it says compact disc rewritable and dvd rom...

what you have is a CD burner it will not burn dvd's
