Could I get help hooking up my Sony VCR/DVD combo to record from satellite tv?

The tv is an older model. I have one coaxial cable coming from the satellite receiver which is located in another room. I know it works because I have done it before. I had a Sony VCR/DVD combo model slv 550 and it worked fine now I have a Sony VCR/DVD combo model slv 271 and I can't seem to get it to work. The screen is all blue or fuzzy depending on the channel. I have the channels all set the same and it still doesn't work. Thank you

You have the vcr set on channel 3 yes? satellite receiver > coax to vcr> short coax to tv, yes? The coax cables are on correctly at the back of the vcr (In or out)?
    That's all I got
