    can i take the dvd/cd burner out of my desktop and hook it up to my laptop?

    I have emachine laptop/notebook idk it's small so call it what u want.but i took the dvd/cd burner out of my old desktop is there anyway to hook it up to my laptop like an external cd burner? and same for the hard drive can i take that out of the desktop and use it like an external hard drive? don't wanna buy anything maybe a cord or something little it's not really a waste to tear the desktop apart more just fun and adventure thanks for comments in advance.

    can i get these at a wal-mart or is a computer store my best bet?

    The disc drive will need a power supply and also a connection cable and possibly a PCB
