Can I save a non copyrighted DVD to my computer?

So my ballet recital was filmed by one of the parents... he makes copies and sells them. I bought one and I want to upload a clip of it onto youtube. Its not copyrighted, so there is no issue there. However, I dont know how to save the movie to my computer. Some help please? And please make it simple, in stupid people talk because I know nothing about computers...
