i want to get the Dell Q6600 and under drives all it says is 16x DVD+/-RW Drive. can i burn cd's like on iTunes and burn DVD's on Sony Vegas with this drive?

Yes, you can. Since it is a rewritable drive, you can also erase and overwrite CD-RW and DVD-RW disks.
