I downloaded the latest version of DivX, had the problem, then tried installing an older version with the same problem.

While I am watching a movie (off a DVD disc) DivX pauses, stops the movie and shows an ad. It completely stops the movie, goes straight to the beginning and even if I press play again, it will play for a few seconds then show an ad and stop the movie again. Is this something I can turn off? It doesn't do it everytime, I'd say every other time, and it shows ads of DivX products (just a picture of an ad) Thanks!

The standard DivX codec from www.divx.com is loaded with ads and spyware, so this behavior is not surprising. I would un-instrall anything that has "DivX" in its title, and use VLC ( www.videolan.org ). It cna play anything you throw its way, including DivX, and is totally free.
