I know that honey is well known not to expire.

I have heard salt, but that's not a food. It's important but not a food.

Water is suggested but that's not a food even though it can keep you alive a long time, plus it doesn't stay drinkable very long! It's one of the dirtiest "foods" out there unless you are talking about pure H2O with nothing else at all in it. Still, not a food.

The only idea I have is based on dried foods. I think anything that is fully dried and isn't poisoned or infected somehow (same goes for honey) would last as long as honey would. This especially means no water as that would make the food no longer a dried food. If it stays dry then it lasts and could be edible. What say you?
