Does Chardonnay make for a good "dry white wine"?

I'm making Wild Mushroom Bisque and the recipe calls for a dry white wine. I've got some Chardonnay, does that count?

Sure, that will work just fine. I usually use Chard because that's what I have on hand. Sauvignon Blanc and Fume Blanc work well too.
