I like white wine better than red.?

But in truth, I don't know much about wine at all. Maybe I could learn to like red and not be afraid of it being astringent or giving me a headache (but white never does that to me). Can someone recommend a good resource to learn about wine? A book, or, maybe something on the web? I live in New York City, so if anyone knows maybe a wine store or some such place that offers tastings for beginners that would be great.

I honestly suggest "Wine for Dummies." It's a great book that puts even the astringency you are referring to in simple English. It's the first wine book I read.
