I bought a whole chicken at Whole Foods on sale, and it smells a bit sour...?

I bought a whole chicken at Whole Foods on sale, and it smells a bit sour...I just bought it last night, stuck in the fridge right away, and this morning I noticed it had a smell to it. What should I do, and if it totally messes up my plans for the day, can I/should I get away with using it?...sigh.
