Not everyone in the business charges a BIG fee.
Common sense tells you that you might get a bit more than the AVERAGE but there may also be competition out there that would do the job for very LITTLE.

I am a video editor, and i have been offered the job of editing some porn dvd's (gay, straight and lesbian) - i'm straight. it would involve me editing the footage together, and then authoring the dvd's. i have some idea of what i might charge, but not sure if i'm being to easy - as it is porn. i can expect all kinds of answers to this question, trust me I've had it all... all i want to know is some rough figures, what you may charge etc... i will probably be charging for the job as a whole, rather than hourly work, so just for an idea lets say each dvd took 2 weeks to edit and author.... cheers
Well, the obvious answer is; charge as much as you think you can possibly get away with without the client walking away. You are a professional providing a professional service; you have already let us know that you will do the job, so it's not out of the realm of your moral code to do it; otherwise you would have just refused at any price.
Remember that someone will always take the gig just to get the experience; and maybe because they are trying to break into the porn industry & are looking for a few credits under their belt. If the producers aren't too awfully concerned with very high quality, just about anyone can offer basic edits even if it's just on Imovie, so remember this may be your competition.
For this kind of gig, my approach would usually be to throw out a price that is just a little higher than you think that anyone would bite at. If they take it, then great, you get a premium price for your services. If they don't, then you lose a gig that you didn't really want anyway.
You'll just have to feel this one out, and do some research into what your competition is charging. Costs for this sort of thing are different all over the country, so it depends on where you live.
I'm not sure your gonna get too many other video editors on here.
how the fuck am i supposed to know, your the video editor
