That first answer at the other question is just silly.

Besides, being insecure about sexuality isn't limited to just men. Plenty of women are like that, too. Hence the reason they become conservatives insist on rigid societal roles and are against movements like feminism/women's righs...and the reason why some of their leaders wind up being closeted gays and then solicit men in toilets like that Minnesota senator.

We don't want to be percieved as gay, and are afraid of it. That seems to be what she meant.
