Thread: If I love triditional marriage why do some people say I hate Gays?

Many people ar protesting Hate 8. If something is dear to me that has been around since the beggining of time "marriage" why would someone lie about my feelings. I have been called a homo-fobe and not tolerant only to have my personal property destroyed by tolerant people. I do hate what some people to supporters of marriage.

It's really easy. If you are a proponet of "traditional marriage", then you can not be for gay marriage. You are emphatically stating that you do not agree with gay marriage. You can't have it both ways here, you're either for it or against it. I am sorry that someone damaged your property; maybe it would be a good idea to keep your opinions in your own head. How do you feel about gays and lesbians? Do you hate us? Want to do us harm? Do you feel like we're out to get you or something? All we want is to be able to marry the person we love. I can't get why people think it's their business, when it is only in the interests of the two people getting married.
Finally, people have been "hand-fasting" (it wasn't called marriage until much later) for a thousand years before it became traditional. People of both sexes were hand-fasted together, because, for whatever reason, they wanted to be a permanent part of that person's life.
So to each his/her own, but I think you ought to be reminded that you're being answered by someone who would have been married except for all the people out there who need to tell me who I can marry and who I may not marry. Geez!

Because if you liked gays you would think that they should be treated equal.

That video was so biased. I personally think marriage should be about 2 people who love each other wanting to commit themselves to each other for the rest of their lives. It has nothing to do with gender. And on the point of being unhappy that homosexuality will be promoted in schools, I think it should be taught aboout. My parents had gay friends who I was around from a very young age. All it did to me was make me accepting of anyone regardless of their sexuality. When I have kids I hope that society is more tolerant than it is now and I will promote homosexuality to my children as well as heterosexuality and bisexuality and transexuality because I don't want them to grow up to become discriminatory bigots.

So your question is?

What are you doing to be so hated? If you are verbally being mean and rude, saying inappropriate things, being a jerk.

If you dont want your things vandalized then either stop talking about the situation and accept it because in the end it really doesnt matter what anyone else does with their own life to you.

Marriage has changed its definition many times throughout time. It did not start out as a religious thing. Pagan people were getting married before Christianity existed. For many years, it was not a love thing. Arranged marriages occurred for the sake of the parents, and had nothing to do with love. Often these marriages occurred between a 12 year old girl and a 30+ year old man. Many people in other cultures continue to use the term "marriage" to describe a union between more than 2 people.

I appreciate your view, and I think it's great that marriage means so much to you. I think it's important that you also be realistic and know the facts, particularly if you are going to voice your opinion loudly. I'm not expecting you to change your view, but it would be nice for you to be aware of the above things so that you are better able to decide how "traditional" the modern definition of marriage is.

I'm sorry that people on my side of the political spectrum have acted hatefully towards you. I think that's apalling, and I applaud you for being brave enough to continue to voice your opinion even faced with such atrocities. Please know that just like you aren't homophobic for the way you're choosing to vote, not all of us are destructive and petty.
