Thread: After January 20, can I be more open about my sexuality and the school I teach at?

I'm so happy that George W. Bush is outta here! America is truly becoming a better nation. I teach at a middle school and want to know if it is a good time to be more open about my sexuality? I think it is but I don't want to celebrate too early.

You should not be open about your sexuality either way you go in school. It is not your job to teach them about that. This is the problem with education today, to many distractions brought on by teachers. You need to keep your opinions OUT of the classroom. You were hired to teach facts not opinions.

I don't think your personal life is on the school curriculum though. But if you want to mention your partner in passing go ahead. No, because no teacher should be open about that with their students, whether they're heterosexual or not.
